The Wolong Panda Reserve is the earliest, largest and best known panda reserve in China and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Chongqing is a megacity with a population exceeding 32 million nestled where the Yangtze and Jialing rivers meet and is well known for its dramatic mountain setting where height is relative as the roof of a building might just be the ground floor of another building. A rapid transit train running through an apartment block at Liziba is an iconic and unique sight of the city that is ever popular with visitors. Another popular attraction is Hongya Cave, a unique multi-level entertainment complex with traditional stilt houses built into a cliffside overlooking the Jialing River. Wandering through its shops, restaurants and cafes all the while enjoying the attractive sights of the city and river below is an experience not to be missed.
Enjoy a guided tour of Chongqing with attractions and highlights that include: (1) Longmenhao and Nanbin historical attractions; (2) viewing the unique architectural construction of the city; (3) Raffles City Chaotianmen; (4) Hongya Cave; (5) ancient teahouse; (6) Ciqikou Ancient Town; (7) Liziba; and (8) Chongqing’s famous food streets.
Today, head to the Wulong Karst Geology Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and visit the Wulong 3 Natural Bridges and Longshuixia Gap. The “3 Natural Bridges”, reputed to be the largest of its kind in Asia, is a massive cluster of limestone bridges forming natural arches over deep gorges, creating a spectacular landscape. Spectacular enough to be used as a setting for several movies including the Hollywood blockbuster “Transformers 4: Age of Extinction”. Longshuixia Gap is a deep and narrow gorge stretching for 5km with depths ranging from 200m to 500m and featuring steep cliffs, waterfalls, natural springs and unique rock formations.
Today, spend the day enjoying the world-renowned Dazu Rock Carvings, a UNESCO World Heritage Site featuring a magnificent and exquisite collection of Chinese religious sculptures and carvings from the 9th to the 13th century (Tang and Song dynasties) that represent some of the finest examples of Buddhist, Confucian, and Taoist rock art in China and also the harmonious blending of Buddhism, Confucianism, and Taoism in medieval China. The carvings spread over 75 protected sites with around 50,000 individual statues and inscriptions. Truly, a treasure of Chinese art and culture.
