Day 03 – Halong to Hanoi
Day 04 – Hanoi: Ninh Binh
Day 05 – Hanoi to Hanoi Airport
5D4N Northern Vietnam Hanoi Halong & Ninh Binh
Day 01 – HANOI AIRPORT – HANOI   [D]

On arrival at Hanoi Airport, your driver will meet you at the arrival hall and drive you to your hotel in Hanoi city centre.  Thereafter, enjoy a “Cyclo” (trishaw) tour around Hanoi Old Quarters, the heart of Hanoi where it was once a bustling area where merchants and artisans gathered to sell their products.  It is famous for its maze of 13th century old-styled narrow streets and alleys with antique brick houses that seem to have resisted the passage of time while still actively trying to adapt to the dynamism of a modern city.  Get a glimpse into the daily lives of the locals as you breathe in the smells, tastes and history of this vibrant city.  Catch a Vietnamese water puppet show, a tradition that is unique to Northern Vietnam and dates back as far as the 11th century.  Dinner at a local restaurant is included and, thereafter, free time to further explore Hanoi at your own leisure.  Overnight in Hanoi.

Day 02 – HANOI – HALONG   [B/L/D]

Hanoi still preserves many ancient architectural buildings.  Enjoy a city tour of Hanoi in the morning visiting famous sites including Ba Dinh Square where you will see the President’s Palace and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.  Learn about President Ho Chi Minh’s life and his career at the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum and Ho Chi Minh’s Stilt House.  Discover the role of Buddhism in Hanoi at the historical One Pillar Pagoda.  Visit the iconic Tran Quoc Pagoda, the oldest Buddhist temple in Hanoi, on the shore of West Lake.  Gain an appreciation for Vietnamese architecture at the Temple of Literature (home to the country’s first national university and built in honour of Confucius in 1070).  Lunch at a local restaurant is included in your city tour.  After lunch, you will be transferred to Halong City.  Rest and relax for the rest of the afternoon.  Dinner and overnight in Halong City.

Day 03 – HALONG – HANOI   [B/L/D]

After your breakfast, go on a 6hr cruise of Halong Bay, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, with stops to visit Dog Islet, Fighting Cock Islet and Titop Island (for swimming).  You will also visit Surprise Cave, one of the most beautiful caves at Halong Bay.  Lunch on board the cruise is included.  After lunch, you can either row a bamboo boat or kayak at your own leisure.  The cruise will go around Halong Bay and return to Halong harbour in the late afternoon.  Upon disembarkation, return to Hanoi and head to a local restaurant for dinner.  Overnight in Hanoi.

Day 04 – HANOI: NINH BINH   [B/L/D]

Day trip to Ninh Binh, located about 100km from Hanoi, after your breakfast.  Ninh Binh is stunning and very often it is known as the “Halong Bay on land”.  It looks like Halong Bay but on land instead of water.  There are hundreds of limestone monoliths topped with dense greenery and with caves formed within them that emerge from the ground and scattered around the city with rivers running through them.  Upon arrival in Ninh Binh, visit the picturesque Hoa Lu, the ancient capital of the Dinh and Le Dynasties which dates back to the 10th century.  Featuring dozen of historical monuments and temples, Hoa Lu is beautiful all year long and possesses a breathtaking ancient beauty with its serene and tranquil landscape and magnificent temples and pagodas.  It is also recognised by UNESCO as one of the four core zones of the Trang An World Heritage Complex.  You will visit two of the most impressive temples in Hoa Lu – King Dinh Temple and King Le Temple.  Stop for lunch at a local restaurant.  Thereafter, board a Tam Coc rowing boat and cruise along the Ngo Dong river to visit 3 underground caves and the charming Bich Dong (“Emerald Grotto”) Pagoda.  Return to Hanoi for dinner at a local restaurant.  Overnight in Hanoi.

Day 05 – HANOI – HANOI AIRPORT  [B]
