On arrival at Rome Fiumicino International Airport, your driver will meet you at the arrival hall and drive you to your hotel in Rome, the capital of Italy.  Board a sightseeing bus at your own leisure and visit Rome’s numerous attractions such as the Colosseum, Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps, Pantheon, Piazza Venezia and numerous other highlights in its historic city centre.  Visit the attractions that interest you most and discover some of the city’s most enchanting neighbourhoods.

Day 02 – ROME: VATICAN CITY  [B]

Birthplace of the Roman Empire and home to Vatican City, Rome is one of the most beautiful cities in the world.  Steeped in history with rich offerings of historical monuments, Roman architecture and works of art, Rome also has lots to offer in terms of food and fashion.  No visit to Rome would be complete without visiting Vatican City, an independent city-state and HQ of the Roman Catholic Church.  Within Vatican City is one of the world’s greatest museum complexes with a huge collection of highly-acclaimed Renaissance art.  Not to be missed would be St. Peter’s Basilica, Raphael’s Rooms and the Sistine Chapel – home to Michelangelo’s “The Last Judgement” fresco.  Enjoy Vatican City (admission ticket included) on a guided group tour.   

Day 03 – ROME – FLORENCE  [B]

Board a train from Rome to Florence, the capital city of Tuscany and often regarded as the most beautiful city in Italy.  In fact, the beauty of Florence places it among the most beautiful cities in the world.  Florence’s rich heritage is attested to by its accreditation as an UNESCO World Heritage Site.  Treat yourself to a fabulous outlets shopping trip this afternoon (includes pick-up and drop-off transport arrangements).

Day 04 – FLORENCE   [B]

Go on a guided walking tour of Florence’s historic centre this afternoon to learn about the city’s origins and more than 2,000 years of Florentine history.  One of Florence’s most iconic sights is the Duomo – Santa Maria del Fiore Cathedral, a cathedral with a terracotta-tiled dome, the Baptistery of St John and a bell tower (“Campanile”) by Giotto.  The Galleria dell’Accademia houses Michelangelo’s “David” sculpture.  The Uffizi Gallery is one of the world’s top art museums exhibiting art by Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo, Botticelli and many other celebrated artists.  In addition to sites mentioned earlier, other attractions include Ponte Vecchio (Old Bridge), Piazza Signoria, Palazzo Vecchio, the famous statues of the Loggia dei Lanzi and House of Dante Alighieri.  After the walking tour, continue with your exploration of Florence at your own leisure.

Day 05 – FLORENCE – MILAN   [B]

Train from Florence to Milan – a city of fashion, design and finance as well as a bustling metropolitan city with a rich history of art and culture.  Iconic attractions include: the Gothic Duomo di Milano Cathedral; the Castello Sforzesco (14th century defensive fortress with large courtyards and massive walls); the Santa Maria delle Grazie convent (housing the “The Last Supper” mural by Leonardo da Vinci); the opulent Teatro alla Scala (opera house); the glass-roofed Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II (impressive building filled with shops); and the walk along Via Dante to Piazza dei Mercanti (Milan’s medieval market).  Visit the Duomo this afternoon and in addition to wandering among the cavernous naves of the cathedral, explore its underground where you can see the archaeological evidence of an older church and take in the panoramic view over the city from the cathedral’s roof terrace (express entry tickets provided).

Day 06 – MILAN  [B]

Discover the highlights of Milan on a guided tour of the historic centre that includes express entry to see Leonardo Da Vinci’s masterpiece “The Last Supper”.  Measuring 4.6m high by 8.8m wide, this huge “The Last Supper” painting of Leonardo da Vinci is one of the most famous paintings in the world.  This artwork was painted between 1494 and 1498 under the government of Ludovico il Moro and represents the last meal between Jesus and his disciples.  Leonardo’s “The Last Supper” is located in its original place, on the wall of the dining room of the former Dominican convent of Santa Maria delle Grazie and is one of the most celebrated and well known artworks in the world.  Continue to explore Milan at your own leisure in the afternoon.  Take a stroll along Quadrilatero della Moda (Milan’s exclusive shopping district); visit the Navigli Canals (canal neighbourhood with loads of restaurants and bars); or see the beautiful Romanesque Basilica of Sant’Ambrogio.  Shopping aside, check out Milan’s vibrant gastronomic scene.  Savour excellent Italian cuisines, gelatos and coffees.  It is said that you can never have a bad cup of coffee in Italy as they are always strong, fresh, and tasty.  From Michelin-starred restaurants to rustic local trattorias, Milan’s food scene with focus on local produce and regional recipes is among one of the most exciting in Italy.
