Day 01 – ARRIVE ZHANGJIAJIE
On arrival at Zhangjiajie airport, transfer to hotel in Zhangjiajie city and enjoy the rest of the day at your own leisure.


Day 02 – ZHANGJIAJIE  [B]
The world-famous Wulingyuan Scenic Area, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is renowned for its spectacular natural beauty and geological formations and in particular its towering sandstone pillars and peaks many of which are over 200m in height.  Key attractions within the Wulingyuan Scenic Area include: (1) Yuanjiajie, famous for its “Avatar Hallelujah Mountain”, (2) Tianzi Mountain, the highest peak in Wulingyuan offering stunning views of the surrounding landscape, (3) Yellow Dragon Cave, an enormous limestone cave with stunning stalactites and stalagmites, and, (4) Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon, known for its deep canyons, towering rock formations, lush greenery and stunning waterfalls and home to the Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon Glass Bridge, the longest and highest glass-bottomed bridge in the world suspended about 400m over a valley affording panoramic views of the entire grand canyon. 

Today, we will visit Yuanjiajie and the Tianzi Mountain and in addition to appreciating stunning landscapes, enjoy a ride on the Bailong Elevator, the highest outdoor elevator in the world, and also a tram ride along the Ten-Mile Gallery, a picturesque valley walkway that winds through sandstone pillars with views of the surrounding landscape.   


Day 03 – ZHANGJIAJIE  [B]
Today, we will visit the Yellow Dragon Cave and Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon.  At the Yellow Dragon Cave, enjoy a boat ride on the underground river and take in views of stunning geological formations inckuding stalactites and stalagmites.  At the Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon Glass Bridge, amazing views of the canyon aside, enjoy the surreal feeling of “floating in the air” whilst walking along the bridge! 


Day 04 – ZHANGJIAJIE  [B]
Today, we will visit Tianmen (Heaven Gate) Mountain renowned for its spectacular Heaven’s Gate, a large natural arch measuring 132m tall and 30m wide fondly regarded as a “gate” to heaven.  Getting to Tianmen Mountain on the world’s longest cable car ride – over a distance of 7.45km and 1.28km above ground – is a treat in itself!  At Tianmen Mountain, apart from Heaven’s Gate, enjoy exhilarating walks along cliff-side walkways and glass skywalks (optional) as you take in the beauty of the mountain and the views from it.  The journey from Tianmen Mountain back to Zhangjiajie City (the lower station of the cable car system) will be by way of a bus that will take you through 99 bends, a ride enjoyed by most visitors and for those who do not relish such a ride, there is always the cable car (optional).


Day 05 – ZHANGJIAJIE – FURONG – FENGHUANG  [B]
Depart Zhangjiajie and head to Fenghuang Ancient Town a.k.a. Phoenix Ancient Town.  Enroute, visit the charming historic Furong Ancient Town, home to the Tujia minority people with a history of more than 2,000 years.  The town, built around the impressive Wangcun Waterfall – 60m tall and 40m wide – is surrounded by lush green mountains and rivers and is known for its well-preserved ancient architecture including traditional Tujia stilted wooden houses. 

Next, we will continue on to the world-renowned Phoenix Ancient Town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, located on the banks of the Tuojiang River and home to the Miao and Tujia ethnic minorities.  Well-preserved and with a history dating back more than 1,300 years, the town reflects various periods of Chinese history with much authenticity.  Whether strolling on its cobblestone streets or taking a boat ride along the river, enjoy the beauty of the town, its traditional architecture, its ancient bridges and other historic structures.  Ranking among the most beautiful towns in China, the town boasts a night scenery and atmosphere that is often described as magical.


Day 06 – FENGHUANG – FANJINGSHAN  [B]
Explore more of Fenghuang Ancient Town at your own leisure this morning.  In the afternoon, we will head to the foot of Fanjingshan, one of the 5 sacred mountains of Chinese Buddhism with a history dating back more than 1,300 years and quite deservedly a UNESCO World Heritage Site.  At a height of 2,572m, the mountain is the highest in the Wuling Mountains and its landscape is characterized by stunning granite peaks and exquisite rock formations like the highly-iconic “Mushroom Rock” amidst lush greenery.  The mountain is home to a number of Buddhist temples and monasteries some of which date back more than a thousand years.  At the top of the mountain is the Golden Summit, site to a “temple in the sky”, the Fanjingshan Temple, that straddles by way of a stone bridge the 2 peaks of the Golden Summit.  Needless to say, views from the Golden Summit are nothing short of spectacular!.


Day 07 – FANJINGSHAN – TONGREN  [B]
Due to its popularity, it is advisable to visit Fanjingshan early in the morning.  A scenic cable-car ride will take you to a high point on Fanjingshan for you to enjoy the extraordinary beauty of the place.  Physical fitness permitting, you may wish to continue to the Golden Summit and be rewarded with the stunning views it affords from that elevation.  Upon reaching the summit, the first of the two halls of the Fanjingshan Temple is the Buddha Hall (representing the present) and across the heart-stopping stone bridge linking the 2 peaks is the Maitreya Hall (representing the future).  Due to its elevation, the Golden Summit is often surrounded by mists or clouds, adding to its mystical atmosphere.  We will end the day in Tongren where you can enjoy the city at your own leisure.


Day 08 – TONGREN – DEPART CHANGSHA  [B]
Depart Tongren and head to one of China’s oldest cities, Changsha, the vibrant capital of Hunan Province.  It is also the hometown of Mao Zedong, the founding father of the People’s Republic of China.  Go on a city tour of Changsha to visit Orange Island, Taiping Old Street, Pozi Street, Huangxing Pedestrian Street and see the young Mao Zedong statue.  In the evening, transfer to Changsha airport for your departure flight.
