After breakfast, head to Sapa in the north-western mountainous region of Vietnam renowned for its beautiful scenery including sweeping rice-terraces and a diverse and fascinating range of ethnic minorities.  Attractions for the day include: Sapa Town, scenic trek between Lao Chai Village and Ta Van Village, Sapa Stone Church (a.k.a. Notre Dame Cathedral) and Sapa Night Market (if open).  Lao Chai is home to the Black H’mong ethnic people who are so named after the deep indigo dye used in nearly all of their traditional clothing and whose unique textiles are popular products in souvenir shops and markets throughout Vietnam.  Ta Van is home to the Giay ethnic people who are, in addition to their main occupation of growing rice, known to make silver products and musical instruments.  They live in both stilt and ground houses with a rather unique design where the central part of the house is set aside to place an ancestral altar and also to receive guests.

Day 03 – SAPA – FANSIPAN – BAC WATERFALL – SAPA   [B/L/D]

After breakfast, enjoy a spectacular ride up to the “Roof of Indochina” – the summit of Mount Fansipan.  At 3,143m, Mount Fansipan is the tallest mountain in Vietnam, and, since 2016, visitors can ascend to its summit station on one of the world’s longest and highest cable car rides offering very scenic panoramic views of the region as it traverses 6km in length and 1.4km in height.  After lunch, be treated to the stunning views along the O Quy Ho Mountain Pass at a height of about 2,000m  and the spectacular Silver Waterfall with its waters cascading down about 200m from a height of about 1,800m.  Thereafter, return to Sapa Town and enjoy the town on your own.

After breakfast, return to Hanoi and visit more Hanoi attractions including: Thang Long Imperial Citadel, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Ho Chi Minh Mausoluem, Ho Chi Minh’s stilt house and One-Pillar Pagoda.  Thereafter, free time on your own to explore and enjoy the Hanoi Night Market and Beer Street.

Day 05 – HANOI – TRANG AN – BAI DINH PAGODA – HANOI  [B/L/D]

After breakfast, head to the Trang An Landscape Complex, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, renowned for its stunning and diverse limestone karst features and in the connection its highly scenic boat rides.  Not surprisingly, it is often described as “Halong Bay on land”.  Villages, temples, pagodas, paddy-fields and archaeological discoveries are testament to human occupation and activity in the area since the early years of human civilization.  Enjoy a boat tour of the area that includes visits to caves of the Trang An cave complex.  No visit to Trang An is complete without a stop at the Bai Dinh Pagoda Complex, the largest complex of Buddhist temples in Vietnam with a history dating back more than a 1,000 years.

Day 06 – HANOI – HALONG BAY DAY CRUISE – HALONG  [B/L/D]

After breakfast, head to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Halong Bay, probably the most visited tourist attraction in Vietnam.  Located in the Gulf of Tonkin with a spectacular seascape of emerald waters and stunning karst and jungle-clad islands and islets, a cruise is a wonderful way to enjoy the sights the bay has to offer.  The cruise includes a visit to the Sung Sot Cave, the largest and likely the most renowned and visited cave in Halong Bay.  Covering an acreage of about 10,000sqm and about 30m in height and 500m in length, the cave is bestrewn with beautiful stalactites and stalagmites.  Return to Halong City for dinner and a visit to the Halong Night Market thereafter.

Day 07 – HALONG – SUNWORLD COMPLEX – HANOI  [B/L/D]

After breakfast, head to Sun World Halong Complex, the largest amusement complex in South-East Asia.  This world-class amusement complex has 2 main areas – the Coastal Amusement Park on Bai Chay Beach and the Ba Deo Amusement Park on Ba Deo Hill.  The 2 parks are connected by the Queen Cable Car, a unique cable car system stretching over 2km and offering scenic views enroute.  Lots of fun and entertainment to be enjoyed at both parks!  At Ba Deo Hill (215m), do not miss out on a ride on the Sun Wheel, one of the world’s highest ferris wheels.  After lunch, return to Hanoi and for some shopping at the AEON Mall Long Bien, a Japanese-owned shopping mall with over a 100 retail outlets including international names.
