D01   ARRIVE SEOUL – GUNSAN – YEOSU

On arrival at Seoul Incheon Airport, your driver will meet you at the arrival hall and drive you to Gunsan where you will see the world’s longest man-made dyke, the 33km long Saemangeum Seawall, that separates an estuary from the Yellow Sea.  Next stop is Jinpo Maritime Park where you will see exhibit of actual aircrafts, vintage tanks, historical artillery, combat planes and ships used during the Korean Civil War.  Finally, you will arrive at Naesosa, or Naeso Temple, a Korean Buddhist Temple that is over 1,000 years old.  End the day at Yeosu (means “beautiful water” in Korean), a picturesque host city for the 2012 World Expo, located on the southern coast of the Korean Peninsula.  Visitors to Yeosu can enjoy deep blue ocean views during the day and a fantastic nightscape after sunset.

D02  YEOSU: SUNCHEON   [B]

Take a scenic drive to Suncheon, designated by UNESCO in 2018 as a biosphere reserve area for its rich history and abundance of natural greenery.  First attraction you will visit is Damyang Juknokwon (Bamboo Forest) featuring a beautiful artificial waterfall, pavilion, walking paths and an eco-exhibition centre.  Next travel to Suncheon Bay, an ecological paradise which is home to over 200 species of birds, including 11 rare species like the hooded crane and the black-headed spoonbill.  Continue on to the town of Boseong, one of the most famous green tea producing regions in Korea and where 40% of the country’s green tea comes from.  Boseong Green Tea Fields are one of the most scenic places in South Korea.

D03   YEOSU – BUSAN   [B]

Depart Yeosu and head towards Busan, South Korea’s second largest city after Seoul.  Enroute you will visit Dongpirang Village, well known for the interesting murals painted on every wall.  Get to the top of the village for exquisite views of the harbour, city, surrounding hills and the many islands.  Jinhae Gunhangje Festival is Korea’s biggest spring festival, attracting at least 2 million visitors every year, and typically in the period 25 Mar to 10 Apr.  (However, please note that this cherry blossom highlight is weather dependent.)  Thereafter, go onboard the longest cable car ride (1.975km) in South Korea, the Tongyeong Cable Car, for a bird’s eye view of Tongyeong Port.  It takes you from the ground station to the summit station of Mireuk-san Mountain (461m) within 10 minutes.  On a clear day, you might even see Tsushima Island (in Japan), Cheongwangbong Peak in Jirisan, and Dolsan Island in Yeosu.

D04  BUSAN   [B]

Enjoy a private tour of Busan today covering iconic attractions and sites such as Taejongdae National Park (with magnificent cliffs!), Songdo Skywalk (365m long curved walkway above the sea), Jagalchi Market, Gukje Market, Kkangtong Market, Gwangbok Cultural & Fashion Street, Gamcheon Cultural Village (dubbed the “Santorini of Korea”) and Busan Tower (for the night view).

D05  BUSAN – GYEONGJU   [B]

Depart Busan and travel to Gyeongju.  Enroute you will stop by at the famous Haedong Yongungsa Buddhist Temple.  Considered as one of the must-sees in Busan, this popular 14th century Buddhist temple is more than just a holy site to pay respect to, but also one of South Korea’s most scenic spots well visited by locals and international travellers.  The next attraction is Daeyeon-dong Cultural Alley. This is a multi-cultural area created by connecting the houses of a residential neighbourhood alley to become a cultural space with theatres, wine bars, galleries and other artistic structures.  Continue on to Gyeongju where you will visit Bulguksa Temple, Seokgulam and Anapji Pond.

D06  GYEONGJU – SEOUL   [B]

Visit Cheomseongdae Astronomical Observatory, the oldest astronomical observatory in Asia.  It was used to observe the stars in order to forecast the weather.  Continue on to the UNESCO World Heritage Hahoe Folk Village, a delightful traditional riverside village from the Joseon Dynasty. The village is well known for its large tile-roofed houses belonging to the Ryu clan and the surrounding thatched-roof houses throughout the village.  Bid farewell to Gyeongju and head to Seoul, capital of South Korea.

D07   SEOUL   [B]

Get ready to hop on your bike and start pedalling down the same route the Mugunghwa train travelled for a span of 70 years.  Gangchon Rail Park is a popular tourist attraction where visitors can pedal along old railroad tracks while taking in the lovely Bukhangang River scenery.  Next, visit the Strawberry Farm and experience plucking and making your own strawberry jam.  Thereafter, head back to Seoul.

D08  SEOUL   [B]

Being a shopaholic’s paradise, there are many shopping districts in the city, mainly Insadong, Myeongdong, Namdaemun, Dongdaemun and Hongdae.  Each of these shopping districts have their own unique personality.  In the evening, stroll along Cheonggyecheon Stream, an 11km long modern stream that runs through downtown Seoul.
